Area Of Service Opportunities

Connections

Connections stands as the single most important part of the Convoy of Hope outreach. Children, teenager and adult guest who make a decision for Christ must be immediately and effectively assimilated and discipled by other believers. We will need people to help us with effective follow-up through data entry, phone calls, home visitation and altar workers for ministry respondents.

(We will be hosting training for Connections Team members on November 1st & 8th. Watch the website for more information.)

Command Center

People working on the arrangements team will be responsible for set-up and tear down of the event as well as providing maintenance needs throughout the outreach. Assignments in this area include set-up and tear-down, maintenance, housekeeping and groundskeeping.

Community Services

The Community Services area will host local agencies and organizations that offer helpful services and resources to the working poor. This includes city, state, federal social and welfare agencies, learning clubs, child finger printing and job fair.

Food Service

We will need people to help in the Food Services area of Guest Food/Beverage Preparation, Guest Food/Beverage Servers, Guest Table Hosts, Volunteer Food & Beverage Preparation, Volunteer Food/Beverage Runners and set-up of Volunteer Food & Beverage Points.

Grocery Distribution

The grocery distribution area will be unpacking pallets, bagging groceries, stocking distribution tables, distributing groceries to guests, collecting food coupon cards and helping guests needing assistance with carrying groceries to their cars.

Guest Services

The Guest Services area is responsible to host guests in the Welcome Area, distribute food coupons, count guests entering the site, greet guests in each area of service. We will need counters, food coupon distributors/runners, greeters, and welcome area hosts.

Health Care

During the Convoy we will provide medical counseling and assistance to as many of our guests as possible. In addition to free screenings such as blood pressure checks, hearing tests, vision screening an dental check-ups for kids, we hope to provide medical and dental services to as many of our guests as possible. We need as many physicians as possible to serve on that day.

(We need the following: MD, RN, LPN, EMT, PA, Dentist, Laboratory Technician, Dental Hygienist, and Nurse Practitioners.)

Kid’s Zone

We want the families and children who come to have an enjoyable experience at the Convoy, so we have created a special place for kids and parents to enjoy together. Children will be able to enjoy inflatable games, pony rides, carnival games and a special program just for kids. We need help with Child registration, face painting, concessions, entrance and exit workers, game/activity workers and lost & found recovery area.

Licensed Hair Stylist/Beautician/Barbers

We will be providing free haircuts, manicures and other beauty services for our guests. You must be state-licensed to participate in this area of service.

Safety & Security

Safety workers will be responsible for warmly assisting guest and volunteers, answering questions, providing helpful direction, maintaining site perimeters and controlled access gates, providing traffic control and parking directives.

Spanish Translators

We will need people who speak Spanish fluently to serve the Hispanic guests during the outreach. Most of our translators will be used as hosts for families that come to the outreach and someone to interpret.
